My family and I have been going to this restaurant (along with the 44th st. location) for many years, and it's one of our favorite sit-down Chinese restaurants. Their hot & sour soup is to die for. I've been to many different Chinese restaurants, and their hot & sour is the best, hands down. The service has always been good, and the dining area is very clean. I usually get the Sesame Chicken, which is excellent, but their Hunan Beef is also very good. A neat thing about this place is that you can get a half-order, and it's still more than enough to fill me up. Their pot stickers are also worth ordering. Oh, and if you need a laugh, check out some of the typos on their menus :)

I used to live near Hunan and have always enjoyed their food. Since I've even driven out of my way to eat here. I was really unimpressed with the meal I've had today. I got the Hunan Chicken. I like spicy food and in the past I've ordered in "extra spicy" and it actually came "extra spicy". Most places won't make it that way in fear of making it too hot to eat. Hunan was never that way and that is what I liked. Today it tasted bland and mild. Also I got steamed rice and it was mushy and sticky. Sticky rice is usually good, but not with mush. The egg roll was the worst I've ever had. I couldn't even finish it. The inside was gray cabbage and gray mush. The egg drop soup was THICK, they used way too much cornstarch. It has been a long while since I've been here and it will be a long while before I go back.

Faithfully supported this restaurant for years. Food is decent and is very close to home. Last week the snooty girl in front told me I could not use my credit card because it was 3 cents under the minimum. She told me "you order more food" I said I would not...she told me to have a good day and that was it. This is how they treat a customer that has faithfully supported them? Too many other Chinese restaurants in this zip code to treat your customers with disrespect.

I have been here 3 times in the last couple of months. My current favorite on the menu is the Mongolian chicken. This rest. is clean and professional. A friend of mine says it is the best Chinese rest. in town, and he has sampled almost all of them. The only downside is that they don't serve salads.

I received excellent service at lunch today. I ordered Hunan Beef, 5 hot, and had it customized with only the vegetables I wanted . [They use a scale of 1-5 with 5 being the hottest.] The Hunan Beef was tender and delicious. Hands down best Hot and Sour soup in the area, and the crab cheese are always light and crispy. Great deal for $6.31

Pretty good Chinese food, Mongolian beef is excellent and soup is good. Good prices. Take out breaded chicken entrees are soggy by the time you get home.

A bit of a disappointment at this Northeast old favorite. Went with my friend Jo and she had Moo Goo Gai Pan which she said was very good. I decided to be adventurous, and tried the Curry Pineapple Fried Rice. Ordinarily I love curry but it didn't fit with this dish. The egg roll didn't taste right, but egg drop soup was good. On the plus side it's pleasant inside and the service is superb.

We have not been to this establishment since 3/28/2015 when we had the unfortunate experience and the poor customer service from the front of house management Sue. Today, we ordered take out of two orders Chicken Fried Rice and an Egg Roll. Sue was at the counter and I attempted to discuss with her in person our disappointment in the way she chose to handle the situation. Sadly it did not go well. Sue could have taken the opportunity to hear my critique, learn from it and attempt to make the situation better. Instead she decided to roll her eyes at me. Then complained about my review from 3/28/2015 here on Yelp and that this review was bad for her. I continued to discuss my concerns and as there was another take out customer behind me hearing this she decided to tell me if I continued she would call the police. No threat was made by me, this was a professional conversation. She did not want other customers hearing about the poor quality of the food we got and then poor response from management regarding the situation. Loc, clearly we need to have a conversation with you directly that does not involve your wife. You have a lovely restaurant now with the new paint job and windows. The attitude in the front of the house darkens that new look greatly. New leadership is needed in the front of the house. We want to return to your establishment and continue to support a fine local business. We are finding this difficult currently.

We live near and frequent the Hunan Restaurant! The food is fantastic!! We go on Sundays where they offer a dine in deal with ordered entrees. I do usually order the same thing every time but I must say they are consistent with ingredients, presentation and portions. We see the owners working very hard taking care if their customers. Keep up the good work!

Extremely untactful and unfriendly customer service over a simple order of chicken fried rice which was a simple understanding over the phone. I hope no one else has any problem ordering over the phone because it was not a very pleasant experience having to switch my rice order.

Not impressed. Got a full order of Mongolian beef and it didn't even take up half of the to go box. Other places around are muchhhh better. And the rangoons sucked. All cream cheese no crab meat

Chinese Cuisine

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.

Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.

There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.
